Parent/Kid (and others) Two Headed Giant Event
Saturday, June 2, 2012 from 3:00 PM to 7:30 PM (PDT)
The return of the Magic Two-Headed Giant Event!! This event is a GREAT way for parents to figure out what this thing thing kids are doing , and for the kids to get a chance to be the ones who know what is going on for a change. ;-) (Also works for spouses/significant others, and buddies who you want to introduce to the game and who are nervous about getting started. ) This is open to all players, but know that this is a good-natured tournament, and fun and helping each other out is more important then winning.
Saturday: June 2nd , 3-7 (ish...First hour is deck building...can join at any time during that period. )
$17.50 per person which includes 4 packs ($20 including sleeves and a deck box-normally $6-7 value) Each team gets a bonus pack.
Frequently asked Questions
What is it?: Two-Headed Giant Magic Tournament. (Two players on the same team, sharing life and playing in parallel against other teams of players)
Do I need to know what I'm doing?: Since both players play at the same time and can show each other their cards, as long as one of the two players knows what they are doing, nothing is required of the other player. It is the best, most fun way to learn the game.
Do we need to make and bring our own decks? Nope. This is what is called a sealed deck tournament, which basically means that each team gets a fixed number of packs (8) of Magic cards to build the two decks used to play in the tournament. Land is available but should be returned each time.
How much does it cost? $17.50 per person which includes 4 packs ($20 including sleeves and a deck box-normally $6-7 value) Each team gets a bonus pack.
Why is is called Two headed Giant? Both players share the same (larger) life total of 30 rather then the normal 20 points. Each "head" (player) takes their turns at the same time and can consult with each other, but they play in parallel, not able to share resources such as land or equipment (if you don't know what those things are, don't worry about it, your partner will.
Why only one game per match? Two headed Giant takes longer to play, so there is not enough time to do the standard 2-out of 3 games.
Does it HAVE to be a parent? This time it's open to all. Just remember we play for fun over prizes and good sportsmanship over all.
When & Where
We have high challenge events for serious players, but are very welcoming of learning players and have lots of folks who enjoy helping them get more confident in their play and just plain have fun. We sell all the latest packs, sets and have single cards for Magic and Pokemon, and host release and pre-release events whenever possible.
